The Universal type are designed for MIKUNI carbs, and are slightly bigger, and would fit loose on a Shadow. The Universal stacks would suck air from around the base, unless you could figure out a way to shim the gap. Also notice the Shadow Stack is in my opinion, MUCH better looking, (a better, more aesthetic shape}, flows slightly better, as it is tapered in the middle, as well as widely flared at the mouth, where the universal is basically straight, so that people can run it on four cylinder carbs, where the wider stack would not fit between the carbs.
